Commercial Director, Ben Duncker has been a driving force behind the promotion of The QuickChange Movable Barrier® and the recent adaption of the UK’s first Mobile Solar Barrier, the SOSEC Mobile Highways Access Gate. He is a keen supporter of demonstrating their combined benefits to offer safety, reduction in construction time, cost and effective traffic management.
‘Highway Care has a long history of working closely with manufacturers and industry specialists to develop new products; efficiently improving road worker safety and adoption of best practice throughout the UK, Australasia, USA and Middle East. The continuation of customer value and innovation remains at the forefront of Highway Cares’ premise. Therefore, showcasing pioneering products at events such as SIB, are imperative in order for our customers to witness first-hand, the best-in-business products enhancing Highways safety’ Mr Duncker stated.
QuickChange Movable Barrier® is a system that comprises a linked ‘chain’ of barrier units which can be moved across the carriageway by a transfer vehicle allowing lane priority changes during road works, improving productivity and safety.
The ability to move a barrier quickly and at any time by deploying a transfer vehicle, significantly reduces the amount of labour required. There is less logistical planning needed to make the change and any last minute amendments to a construction project requiring increased work space can be accommodated. Recently the QuickChange Movable Barrier® has received positive recognition in the Hirschstet-ten and Stadlau tunnels Vienna, Austria.
SOSEC Mobile Highways Access Gate, is the first solar powered barrier access gate that is a truly mobile solution for highways application for temporary site and works access. The barrier can be deployed quickly to provide instant security; improving site safety by limiting access and preventing unauthorised work site incursions while eliminating the need for manual gate operatives. These will be available for hire (or sale in cases where they are in regular use).
BarrierGuard 800® portable steel barrier vehicle restraint system (VRS) can be used for temporary or permanent locations, it is listed in the Highways England’s “Accepted EN1317 Compliant Road Restraint Systems” and has been approved to EN1317 Part 2 at N2 and H2. The system unique ‘QuickMount’ connector design allows installation of up to 300 metres of barrier per hour and is the lowest deflecting portable steel barrier per frequency of anchors.
Highway Care will also market a vast range of temporary and permanent safety products at the event, including SwiftGate – automatic road works taper, Red Cross – Vehicle Mounted Sign Board, Safe-Stop 90 Lorry Mounted Crash Cushion (LMCC), Tertu TimberRail – Aesthetic wooden Clad Steel Barrier and S-A-B Barrier Gate for emergency access.
